The $287 million data center is tasked with managing all transactions and revenue from eBay.com and PayPal.com.

In a blog posting at Datacenterpulse.org, Dean Nelson, the senior director of eBay's data center architecture, revealed details of the auction specialist's newly completed data center located in South Jordan, Utah. According to Nelson, the facility, known as project Topaz, is considered to be as resilient as a tank while also being cost beneficial and energy efficient.

The $287 million data center was built in 14 months and is tasked with managing all transactions and revenue from eBay.com and PayPal.com, which accounted for around $2,000 in revenue per second last year, InformationWeek reports. The facility is the most efficient in eBay's portfolio, achieving a 1.4 PUE.
