HP says its Flexible Data Center design can cut construction costs in half while also reducing energy consumption.

HP claims its prefabricated Flexible Data Center design can cut capital costs associated with design and construction in half. The company's butterfly design reduces deployment time and boasts a PUE of 1.8, according to Julius Neudorfer at CTO Edge.

According to eWEEK, the traditional data center costs approximately $18 million per megawatt to build, compared with $8 million per megawatt for HP's Flexible Data Center. The facility offers up to four cooling technologies and five UPS configurations, giving companies increased flexibility in how to build their data center.
