Wireless LAN Market Forecast to Rebound to Record Level in 2010

The enterprise segment of the Wireless LAN market is expected to double within five years

In a newly released market forecast report by Dell'Oro Group, overall Wireless LAN (WLAN) market revenues are expected to rebound in 2010, reaching $5.5 billion, which exceeds the market’s revenue record set in 2008. The strongest growing WLAN market segment over the next 5 years is forecast to be the enterprise segment, which by 2014 is expected to exceed the size of the small office, home office (SOHO) segment, currently the largest segment.


“Network spending slowed in 2009, but as confidence in the economy returns, we expect that businesses will return to a traditional four-year replacement cycle for their WLAN equipment,” said Loren Shalinsky, Senior Analyst of Wireless LAN research at Dell’Oro Group. “The huge growth of Wi-Fi enabled devices, including cellular phones, e-book readers, and netbook computers, also will drive WLAN equipment growth, as consumers and businesses look for ways to connect these devices.
