Return Path Boasts Tighter Phishing Protection

Wednesday Jun 9th 2010 by Kara Reeder

Domain Assurance will provide ISPs with an audit of e-mail streams so they can identify e-mails that are safe to go through.

A just-announced service called Domain Assurance from security firm Return Path promises to offer extra protection from phishing e-mails for service providers including Yahoo and Comcast, reports V3.co.uk.

As the article explains:

Domain Assurance has an audit and registry to authenticate e-mail, and allows ISPs to block unauthenticated messages such as spam and phishing attempts.

The service will provide ISPs with an audit of e-mail streams so they can identify e-mails that are safe to go through. An e-mail flagged as "bad" will be blocked by the mailbox provider or ISP, and companies can be notified if they are being spammed or phished.

Domain Assurance is currently in beta. Look for it to be commercially launched at the end of the third quarter.
