OfficeScan 10.5, due out in July, will offer a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) piece.

Trend Micro aims to tackle desktop virtualization security with updated endpoint security product, reports Computerworld.

OfficeScan 10.5, due out in July, will offer a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) piece. The component, according to the article, will attempt to understand:

where the OfficeScan 10.5-protected virtual-machine installation is within the enterprise and [apply] security processes through "VDI-aware" techniques, such as serialized scan operations and security updates.

Whereas the more traditional Windows-based desktop deployments see prices of $20, users can expect to pay more for security on virtual machines to the tune of $8 more for the so-called "VDI-aware," as measured by a base 1,001 seat count.
