AG's new application monitor talks to existing monitoring scripts with the addition of a few lines of code.

The Advantage Group has announced the release of Enterprise Application Monitor (EAM).

EAM is a web-based application that allows admins to monitor applications and system resources. The package works in conjunction with existing scripts and monitoring applications to provide centralized view of system and application monitoring tools running on a network. The software is able to monitor such variables as available disk space and login attempts.

According to the company, EAM requires the addition of a few lines to any monitoring script in order to integrate the script's output with its own. The company also says EAM can be configured to work with existing network management systems by sending an SNMP (define) trap when an event occurs.

EAM works as a standalone product, but is also designed to work with other Advantage Group applications such as Enterprise Device Manager, which provides real-time monitoring and alerting capabilities capable of integration with EAM.

EAM is available for Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional, Windows 2003, Red Hat Linux, Mandriva Linux, HP-UX and Solaris. Its Web interface is driven by Macromedia Flash, and it requires Internet Explorer 6.0 with Macromedia Flash 7 to operate.
