The somewhat less obvious parallel driver of the deal is to position the company as the key supplier of management tools for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based systems from different vendors. Organizations often have heterogeneous corporate networks. The vendor able to make the disparate equipment work together most efficiently will benefit both by sales of that functionality and by being more central to the organization's operations when it is ready to buy more gear.
