Juniper Networks announced today that it has finally found a replacement for outgoing CEO Kevin Johnson. Shaygan Kheradpir is set to become the new CEO of Juniper, effective January 1st, 2014.
Johnson had taken over from Scott Kriens, who currently serves as the chairman of the board for Juniper Networks.
"Shaygan Kheradpir has a proven track record of successful business operations and technology leadership, with industry knowledge and technical vision from the perspectives of both telecommunications service providers and global enterprises," Kriens said in a statement. "Most importantly, Shaygan's values and vision for the company align very tightly with our own, building a strong foundation for Juniper's future."
The new CEO comes to Juniper with some impressive credentials. Kheradpir previously served as chief operations and technology officer with Barclays PLC; before that, he was the executive vice president and chief information and technology officer at Verizon Communications
"Juniper Networks delivers innovations that are transforming the way people interact, conduct business, and connect as a global community," said Kheradpir in a statement. "I am honored to lead this visionary organization and look forward to working with this group of dedicated and talented professionals to drive the next phase of the company's growth."
Kheradpir joins Juniper at a time when the company is aiming to define itself in the modern era of Software Defined Networking (SDN). Juniper recently announced its OpenContrail SDN controller as the cornerstone of its SDN efforts. Its core switching portfolio is also going through a transformation towards a consolidated fabric known as Metafabric.
