Podcast: CompTIA Paints a Rosy Picture for Unified Communications

by Carl Weinschenk

CompTIA's Vice President of Research Tim Herbert says that the category is being pushed in a positive direction by multiple drivers. But that very success should send up yellow flags, as the definition of unified communications changes and organizations face planning and training issues.

CompTIA this week released a survey of 900 U.S. businesses that showed significant and growing interest in unified communications.

Vice President of Research Tim Herbert told Unified Communications Edge's Carl Weinschenk that 49 percent of respondents report that expenditures of unified communications rose more quickly than general IT spending. The drivers, he said, are the desire for more efficiency and productivity, lower costs and greater functionality.
